Latest News:

6-30-08: Our first attempt at a music video! This is something Edward put together using a recent performance of our song "Professional Zombie" from our May 2 gig at the Warehouse in Kennesaw.

6-10-08: We just finished up a string of shows throughout May and the beginning of June. We had a great time meeting some new folks and gaining a few new fans. Our May tour included:

  • The Warehouse in Kennesaw, GA (May 2)
  • TimeGate in Atlanta Perimeter, GA (May 23)
  • Wrath of Con in Panama City, FL (May 31)
  • Sci-Fi Summer Con in Atlanta, GA (June 6)

All the shows were really awesome. The TimeGate show was our first time doing an acoustic set and we had a terrific time doing it. We played a bunch of songs that we don't normall do, like "Sympathy for the Devil" by the Stones. We got great feedback from the audience.

The Florida trip was really special, even though David wasn't able to join us for that one. We were completely surprised to find a bunch of people really looking forward to hearing us play. We had a great audience at that show, really enthusiastic. In fact, we had a couple of celebs in the crowd—Richard Hatch of Battlestar Galactica fame and Gigi Edgley from Farscape (dancing her hot little butt like crazy to our original "Sanctuary").

We'll have some clips from these shows up on our Media page soon as we can!

3-11-08: Our gig at the Atlanta Comics Expo went really well. It was Jen's first time back after having her second child, and she really surprised everyone with her awesomeness. We did a predominantly Hyperdrive show with a mini-Strobelight set in the middle.

We played a gig at Chattacon last weekend which went really well. Finally, a con that had an actual stage for us to play on. Two problems with it, though: One was that it was in a huge concrete bunker, basically, which meant that the sound was pretty awful. We got some videos from that show, and the sound on those is actually pretty listenable. But the folks who were there thought the sound was way too loud and muddy. The other problem was that the stage wasn't lit. Unlike the sound, this did affect the video clips, as even though they sound okay...you can't see a damn thing!

This was also Dave's last show with the band, having played bass with us on and off for the past three years. Thanks, Dave, for the great work. He'll be continuing on with us as our sound tech while he pursues other musical endeavors.

About us:

Hyperdrive is an Atlanta-based rock band comprised of science fiction / fantasy geeks. The initial spark from which Hyperdrive was eventually born was a conversation between guitarist Edward deGruy and drummer Alan Siler about rock and pop music that employed science fiction, fantasy and horror imagery. From that plus the desire to play some of this music at parties, conventions, etc. a new band was formed.

Hyperdrive has gone through a number of member changes, but the one thing that hasn't changed is our music of choice: Good rock'n'roll with sci-fi/fantasy/horror slant to it!

Hyperdrive is available for parties and conventions throughout the southeast. Please dig around the site a bit to learn more about us, our history, and the type of music we play.

Current Line Up:
Jen Lassonde - Lead Vocals
Ed deGruy - Guitar & Vocals
Alan Siler - Drums & Percussion
David Minchew - Lead Guitar & Vocals
Bob Epperson - Bass & Vocals
